Recognizing Famous Left Handers

Left handers may be in the minority, but there are many famous ones out there. I hope you are amused and entertained by this awesome list.
Many people do not know that Jesus was left handed, as were his servants and many children born in Israel. This is stated in the Bible, as he sits to god’s right side. Other historical figures who had significant impact and were lefties include Alexander The Great, Julius Caesar and King Louis XVI of France. King George the second, fourth, sixth and eighth were all famous royalty in the United Kingdom, and all were left handed.
Some of the most prominent left-handed people in American history were presidents. James Garfield, Harry S. Truman, Ronald Regan, Bill Clinton and current President Barack Obama were or are all left handed. Other political figures include Ross Perot, Bill Bradley and Benjamin Franklin.
In the business field Henry Ford, David Rockefeller, John D. Rockefeller and Bill Gates are some of the more prominent lefties. Host entertainment brings some famous left handers to the table with Jay Leno, David Letterman and fitness guru Richard Simmons.
The world of entertainment brings some very famous left-handed actors to the stage. Among the most recognizable are Dan Aykroyd, Tim Allen, Tom Cruise, Charlie Chaplin, Matt Dillon, Robert DeNiro, Richard Dreyfuss, Jim Henson, George Kennedy, Bruce Willis, Jason Alexander, Jason Bateman, Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, Michael Richards, David Spade, Sylvester Stallone and Dick van Dyke. Actresses include Drew Barrymore, Carol Burnett, Judy Davis, Whoopi Goldberg, Nicole Kidman, Marilyn Monroe, Demi Moore, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Julia Roberts and Oprah Winfrey.
There were also some well-known criminals who were left handed. William Bonney and Billy the Kid are known for being popular train robbers, John Dillinger was a famous bank robber, and the Boston Strangler and Jack the Ripper were serial killers.
In sports there are hundreds of well-known athletes whose left hand is dominant. In American football Mark Brunell, Bobby Douglass, Norman “Boomer” Esiason, Jim Del Gaizon, David Humm, Paul McDonald, Scott Mitchell, Gayle Sayers and Allie Sherman are all lefties. In basketball there is Walter Berry, Larry Bird, Adrian Branch, Calbert Cheaney, Dave Cowens, Adrian Dantley, Charles “Lefty” Driesell, Mark Eato, Nick Van Exel, Gail Goodrich, Ron Kellogg, Toni Kukoc, Bob Lanier, Brad Lohaus, Dick Motta and Chris Mullen.
