Left Handed Celebrities Making a Left Handed Mark on the World
By Russell Cope
Left handed celebrities have graced movie screens, broadway shows, and T.V. since the beginning of the theatrical arts. Charlie Chaplin is one of the first well known southpaws who entered the world of theater, and after him came many many more. Lefties tend to be very creative which is an important attribute in acting, singing, etc.
Fan favorite left handed actors include Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts and Bruce Willis. Other great lefties are the late George Burns, Michael Landon and the creator of the muppets, Jim Henson. This star-studded list of celebrities reads like a Who’s Who of All Time Hollywood Legends.
Left handers are more inclined to go into the arts, music or anything that requires us to use our imagination. Some current theories say we are moving from the Information Age to the Conceptual Age as described in an article by Daniel H. Pink, Revenge of the Right Brain. He suggests that the outsourcing of routine analytical jobs will continue and companies will rely more heavily on creative and imaginative people to sell their products or services. This could be very good for us southpaws 🙂
Two recent American Idol standouts David Cook and David Archuleta battled it out on stage to see who was the first left handed American Idol. Even though David Cook won they can both be added to the growing list of famous lefties.
I should also mention the musical contributions of Beethoven, Jimi Hendrix and Paul McCartney. Yes, they all used their dominate left hand to rein over the musical world.
Left handed celebrities have made an important impact on the theatrical arts community and will continue to due so for years to come. Kinda gives you another reason to be proud of being left handed.
